Default When To Trade Dreamteam Supercoach Players?

When to trade .... its got me thinking.

Ok ... This might sound really stupid.

However, as a dreamteam newbie I would like to hear what the more experienced players think.

Now with maximum 20 trades in a year and 2 per round ... surely there must be some sort of strategy.

Injuries and form slumps surely pay a big part of this game ... but when do you pull the pin?

Looking forward to your reply.

Trades are not only used for replacing injured/suspended/under-performing players, they are also a good way to make money to buy high-priced guns.

Try not to trade at all after rd1.

Make 2 trades after rd2. Trade 2 low scorers or injured/suspended players for 2 very low-priced players that have scored relatively well in the first 2 rounds, their prices will rise dramatically the following week and keep rising for several weeks after that.

For example: An bottom wage player who has averaged ~70 pts in the first 2 rds will increase by about $70k after his next game and, if he maintains that average over the the next 4 or 5 games, will keep rising until he is worth about $270k. Then you can either keep him or sell him and try and find another very low-priced player that has only played 2 games and scored relatively well and start the process again.

Use the profits from these trades to upgrade low/average scorers or injured/suspended/not-selected players to high-priced guns.

Do trades on Thursday night/Friday to ensure your new players are selected to play.

Obviously injuries and suspensions will dictate when you make a lot of your trades but try to hold off on trades until there is an ideal cheapie (as mentioned above) to replace your injured/suspended player. Bearing in mind that your first concern is to make sure you have 22 players on the field each week.

Ideally you want to have about 10 trades left for the last 7 rds.

Trades are like gold, don't waste any.

You are right, but that is the main point this week ONLY.

In general though IMO the MAIN point is to not be tempted to trade on a Monday or Tuesday. Instead wait until Thursday night/Friday and check selections and injury recovery time updates. It is absolutely inevitable that you will waste trades if you don't follow this rule.

Pusti hit the nail on the head, I can think of nothing to add to those guidelines, except if you are keen, put together a spreadsheet to help you filter out those HOT trades!

In my case I had to trade Nathan G Brown this week so there would be some exeptions after round 1. I have a couple of benched players aswell that i aim to trade in the next few weeks for some lower priced high potential players. ie: Leroy jetta etc.

disagree

you could've just played one of your reserves for 1 more week.

i bet you could make a much smarter trade after rd2. not after rd1.
the extra bit of data is crucial in assessing the players true pointscoring ability IMO. rd1 stats are misleading.

Trading was a issue for myself last year. I know I need to trade out a couple duds in the team but will be waiting until after Round 2.

Also, if you can't be bothered watching the footy show (like me) watch "Fridays tip-off" on bigpond tv. A "no hype" 15-20min panel show with Andy Maher, Billy Brownless and Tim Watson go through all the teams and will most of the time have the goss on late withdrawals that are not shown in the papers (such as Nathan Brown on last Friday's show) Plus Brownless will often make comments on players "Dream Team Performances/potential"

Unless you were on hiatus for the few days before the season started, I dunno why you still had Nathan Brown

yeh all this wait till after rnd two bull****, if you had Big JB, Ball, Goodes, and even if they hold up to their averages of last season over the next two weeks, your looking at losing 38,000 on brown, 27,000 on Ball, 21,000 on Goodes. Now, I don't reckon JB will average 140 over the next two weeks, so he is a must trade this week or next, cause he will prolly drop more then that, i'm tipping a loss of about 60-70,000 after rnd 3. ok so Jb is a must trade. I don't have Brad Johnson, so come friday he will be in. 1. he will go up, 2. he is consistent, so a must have. now ball could come back and score 93, his average last yr, over the next two weeks, but if he misses through concussion, or plays hurt, like he did all last year, then thats just eating a hole in my arss. Goodes, I need to wait till round 2, see if he bounces back, cause if he don't, he's out after rnd two. Idea is to pick up Rodan for cheap as chips, get a couple of weeks increase outa him, (will go up 56,000 if he scores 65 for the next two rounds), and pick up ball or Goodwin, or even judd if he drops and plateau's at about rnd 4-5. However, if hall, mundy or tarrant perform poorly next week, i might need to trade one of them too, or risk losing 70, 80,000 on them. therfore, i need to leave one possible trade for goodsy, and one for Hall mundy tarrant, or whoever depending on next weeks form. This may seem trade happy, but I trade in batches, and won't make many trades till mid season , and not after rnd 3, cause anyone dropping in price, well they're going down, and likely to drop more, pick them up cheap when they're on the up
