Default Matthew Boyd Bulldogs 2008 Dream Team

Never really a player the seems to get that much publicity. However his 2007 stats where excellent. Average 96-97 score and looks like he is on the improve, played all 22 games in both 2006 & 2007.

Might be an early pencil in job and watch during NAB cup.

He'll be pretty expensive TF, he'll be the 12th most expensive midfielder...
But he'll be a good pick up if you got some left over cash and are wanting to spend it, because he is a ball magnet that not many people will pick..

I with you 100% ... I love those terms "ball magnet" & "not many will pick"

i disagree.

Boyd is primarily the Bulldogs no.1 tagger/defensive-midfielder (a bit like Stenglein of the eagles), and only got moved into an "onballer" midfield position because Cross went down last year. i have pencilled in West/Cross/Cooney as the likely onballing brigade, which means Boyd probably won't be as prolific as last year. i think he's tremendously reliable at stringing 22 games together, but his starting price will be way too high.

Thanks for the good solid advice guys.

Ok ... so what I'm hearing is. Yes, he is a good player. However, your going to have to pay an expensive price to get him into your team.

Get the feeling both you are saying you must seek value ... if you want to do well in dreamteam comps.

ehh, yes and no.
i rate Cooney mainly for his reliability factor. i can't remember the last time he missed a game of football!! it's really important to put together 22 games, and Cooney is certainly one guy i would trust. however, he averaged about 90.00 last year, and is going to be in the expensive category. he also cops the opposition's no.1 tagger most weeks, which will hurt his fantasy output. i think he'll be fair value. i wouldn't expect his stats to improve upon last year. but i would regard him as a good safe option who should deliver a 2000pt season.
