PAFC is on a distinguished road
Default Martin Mattner

Anyone else tempted to get him?

I've considered him, but ended up getting rid of him because has never really been a ball magnet at any stage of his career, though with Malceski down he could be their designated kicker, but he hasn't got the best of skills to fill that role...

Had similar concerns but he has averaged 69 in four pre season games, including a 99 in his last game.

Not to keen on him given he never shone in Adelaide and Sydney's game plan is going to be about as flattering for him.

I did pick Mattner, then replaced him; however I do think he will do a lot better than last year at Adelaide. In 2006 he was Adelaide's leading Brownlow Medal scorer. I bet no one knows that, but it's ingrained in my mind. In that year, he was a great player on the wing, hard runner and tackler, good kick, and then somehow in 07 he got put in defense and was completely shunted, quite ineffective in general which resulted in omission and trading. As I said I did pick him, but then with a number of changes managed to afford the slightly more expensive Brad Symes who I think will get bigger numbers (mainly due to playing for the Crows instead of Sydney).

im on him......he may kick it like a dog, but i see him on that small ground up there being the guy who recieves at halfback takes 2 bounces and kicks it forward.....about 20 times a game

in the pre season he dominated the first 2 games..(you said the 79 av)..and he only played a half in those gmes!..plus the 99 in the last game...

and finally malceski out..and kennelly coming back from injury..all adds up top a bargain i reckon.

i think Kennelly is the smarter choice at Syd - he could be the new go-to-player in the backline.
and Sydney is not a high-stats team. not good for Mattner.

We think alike Tippaz, I picked Kennelly and Symes.

Having said that, Mattner will definitely score higher this year than last year.

Mattner started with a chocker Kennelly with a bang. Good tip Tippaz. I had neither though instead i'm on the super impressive Jason Gram who started with a barnstorming 26.

Yer I got him just to fill a cheaper option position. Hopefully should be good value.
