Default Young Guns - Davey and Hawkins!

I saw tom Hawkins play briefly on the weekend and i thought he showed a heap of promise. I thought much the same of Alwyn Davey. This week, having no trades that i think are more vital, i was thinking about trading Alwyn Davey and getting Tom Hawkins. This would give me a handy $36,000 and i believe Hawkins will turn into just as big a star as Davey will be. Do you think this move is wise? just wanting your thoughts.

I am going to do the same trade, for 90k he should go up to at least the same as Davey. I think its a good move but a few around here will tell you different!

I'll leave it up to others to say whether it's a smart move or not but consider waiting until the teams are named for this week because:
Davey's price will continue to rise.
Thompson has said he will only play Hawkins 10-12 games this year so if he doesn't play this week, leave it, you've saved a trade, he won't go up in price and you will make more money with Davey while waiting for Hawkins to return.

its obviously important to have a playing emergency for injuries, so do you think Hawkins will play enough and get a higher score than Davey. For example it would be awesome if by round 12 Hawkins reacher a score of 200,000 while davey was on 170,000, then i could trade him off for a min wage player. But the real question is by about half way through the season do you think Hawkins will have a great price than Davey??? any thoughts will be appreciated.

Agreed. It would be a waste to trade Davey out now.

If you have to get Hawkins in trade him for someone more expensive who you're planning to trade out sometime soon anyway. But not Davey yet

PAFC and perterfitz are right

if they both score 70 points this week davey goes up another 39k hawkins 48k.

Not worth the trade, plus by the middle of the year a young wing man is likely to score more consistantly than a 19 year old full forward.

What about trading Burton who is worth 540 000 but will drop maybe 50 000 after round four for Hawkins and then upgrade another player to a gun. Worth two trades?? Otherwise Burton will lose value and Id prob have to persist with him and hope he comes good.

I agree, I would not get Hawkins, He will never hold up for more than 4/5 games. I heard him get interviewed and he said that himself.
No good for any reason:
Point scorer: NO, I doubt he will be very consistant this year
Reserve Forward: NO, He will not play many games this year
Money maker: NO, He will be only good for a max of $60k rise this year, due to only playing a handfull of games.

I could be wrong, but for me... It is not worth the risk of wasting a trade.
Davey is much better value and less risk
Another good trade for the forward line (Next week) is Brad D!CK: http://www.talkingfootball.net/forum...-new-post.html

I think that if Geelong have a bad game which is possible with their unpredictibility Hawkins is more than likely not going to fire. But when Essendon are going to have a bad game their midfield and halfforwards i.e Davey will still get the ball. If you want hawkins why not trade him for a higher priced player and have more money for your next trade??
