Default Soccer - what's the general AFL fan's opinion?

I love my football (soccer or whatever you call it).
But recently (since I moved to NZ from the UK) I've been used to people calling it a sport with 22 girls running around and kicking a ball.
Both in the States and in NZ I've heard these comments (even from my wife - who's Kiwi).
What's the general opinion amongst the AFL fans?
Pack of girls or a skillful and exciting game?
Yes, most "soccer" fans hate the acting and rolling around too.
Smack them with a baseball bat. Either that would stop them from doing it next time...or they would at least have a reason to roll around like Barbie and the rest of the Mattel family.
I'm just used to having rugby fans around me, slagging off the sport.
Do the AFL fans share the rugby fans opinion?

...and what is your opinion about rugby union and league? (I personally like both).

Most hardcore (one-eyed) AFL fans will have similar opinions to the rugby fans, but of course there are many that enjoy both sports.

Entirely different games. I won't say comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges because those are quite similar.

Comparing them is like comparing a rock to a walking stick

I don't care what you say, the Geelong Advertiser is a mighty fine publication for Geelong supporters and bandwagoners alike

The following are pure gold:
Zero Punctuation, Family Guy, Mighty Boosh, Black Books, RATM, QOTSA, Buckethead, Werder Bremen and the Cats

I am one of those that love both codes. The perfect weekend is a Port Adelaide and Manchester United win

I love soccer, but the reffing in our qualifier v China was just awful.

I was sitting on the couch, a ref myself and I was yelling at the screen over wrong calls
