Default Demons Set To Make The Finals

Ok ... so you think I've gone mad dont you!!! So I've combined two articles from elsewhere and I think you get some thought provoking info!

IMHO many people have written the Dees off ... ... but does history tell us different.

Lets look at some history.

Lets say you take ... the following into account - is there a pattern for teams that have finished in the bottom 3 for 3 straight years since drafting came into our game.

Team .... finishing ladder positions

Carlton 2005-2009 ....... 16 16 15 11 7
Saints 2000-2006 ........ 16 15 15 11 3 3 8
Collingwood 1998-2003.. 14 16 15 9 2 2
Sydney 1992- 1999 ..... 15 15 15 12 2 7 5 8
Richmond 1991-1995 .... 13 13 14 9 4
Brisbane 1990- 1997..... 14 15 14 13 12 8 3 8

*** 5/6 teams make finals within 2 years - exception was Brisbane!!!
*** 4/6 teams make top 4 within 2 years

Then considering Melbournes arrivals since then ... interestingly only 1 player is still not on their list ... Jace Bode ... in (= their National Draft Selection number)

2007

Cale Morton (pick 4 in AFL national draft)
Jack Grimes (14)
Addam Maric (21)
Kyle Cheney (53)
Tom McNamara (66)
John Meesen (traded by Adelaide)
Jace Bode (rookie elevation)
Stefan Martin (pre-season, 3)

2008

Jack Watts (1)
Sam Blease (17)
James Strauss (19)
Jamie Bennell (35)
Neville Jetta (51)
Rohan Bail (64)
Austin Wonaeamirri (rookie elevation)
Liam Jurrah (pre-season, 1)

2009

Tom Scully (1)
Jack Trengove (2)
Jordan Gysberts (11)
Luke Tapscott (18)
Max Gawn (34)
Jack Fitzpatrick (50)
Joel McDonald (pre-season, 1)

Very interesting times ahead ... I have this feeling in my guts I'm either going to make a lot of money on the Dees over the next few years or I'm going to lose a lot.

However, for the first time in my life I'm prepared to break my golden rule ... Never back the team you barrack for!!!!

IMHO many people have written the Dees off because they dont know them.

Don't you have a joke thread?

I will be punting on the Dees in the early part of the year before bookies wake up to what's going on.
