The Optimist is on a distinguished road
Default Trent Cotchin - Richmond Tigers

Trent Cothcin will struggle to be fit in the early part of the 2008 season. For those of you that are betting on the Rising Star award, I would strongly suggest that you reconsider your selection of Trent Cotchin.

Trent has not undertaken a full pre-season and for a first year player to get up and going a full pre-season is critical.

Trent Cotchin will probably start to be avaiable for selection in Rounds 3-6 and will probably gain match practice at Coburg prior to getting into the senior side.

Trent would have been capable of starting in the Richmond senior side in Round 1 if not for the complications to his ankle injury that he sustained last year. Trent has some soreness in his achilles which has caused the modification to his pre-season program.

Just read this on the official AFL site

"The Tigers have placed the exciting 17-year-old midfielder, the No.2 overall pick in last November's draft, on the long-term injury list, with a broken bone in his foot and Achilles tendon soreness."

Sounds like terrible bad luck for the kid.
