BULLDOG Jarrad Grant has been taken to the Alfred Hospital after being stung by a stingray at Port Melbourne beach.
The first-year player was one of a group of Bulldogs wading through the water during a recovery session when he was stung on the back of his leg. His teammates immediately called an ambulance
He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. While the sting caused bleeding, his injuries are not thought to be serious and he is expected to be released this morning.
He was named in the squad to play Essendon at Telstra Dome tonight, but will now miss the match.
Grant, who played for the Dandenong Stingrays last year, was taken with the fifth pick in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft.
